Nara

The one before Kyoto

a caff in the park

The hills are alive

Doh..

All timber - unbelievable

for 1100 years - Kyoto

The whole city is a historical site...temples, gardens, the houses, the layout of the city itself.. I'm only sorry that I had not studied or read enough on its history beforehand - would have given the visit another depth.. great place.

Family run place - Totally home made - the most delicious ramen in the world!

Colour explosion!

Ryoanji temples's rock garden - there are total of 15 rocks but from any one view point in the garden; can one see all 15 of them at once (meaning that humans are not perfect and ought not to be greedy trying possess all..) - but it's meaning is free for your own intepretation.

The palace isn't interesting at all - just looked really good at this precise time of the day when the sun started setting.. the landscape absolutely luscious

Boat-shaped pine tree; one of the famous 5 pine trees in Japan - much, much more interesting than the kitch golden palace

Fishiminari Shrine - never ending tunnel of orange Torii gates - average of 2 hours takes to go around them all.. worth it everytime!!
The gates are gifts from the believers of the religion

They just looked so good

Arashiyama bamboo forest

Ramen, oden.. boat restaurant comes to you
